Adam Kyler Petty (July 10, 1980 – May 12, 2000) was a professional racing driver. He was the first fourth-generation driver in
NASCAR history.
Petty's career began in 1998 just after he turned 18; and competed in the ARCA/Remax Series. In 1999, he started racing full time in the NASCAR Busch Series. By 2000, he started making entries in the Winston Cup Series while still competing full time in the Busch Series.
Petty's career was short lived and was killed instantly when he suffered a basilar skull fracture during a practice session at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He was 19 years old.
