Las Vegas Motor Speedway, located in Clark County, Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada about 15 miles northeast of the Las Vegas Strip, is a 1,200-acre (490 ha) complex of multiple tracks for automobile racing. The complex is owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., which is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Kobalt 400 is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held annually at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The inaugural race was first held in 1998. For several years, the race was sponsored by United Auto Workers and DaimlerChrysler. From its inception through 2008, the race was run at a distance of 400 miles (640 km).
