Barred Owl, Kajika, at the Photo Photo Wild! event held at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville, NC.

Kajika, came to CRC as an orphan after falling from his nest as a baby. He fractured his right wing, and unfortunately his injury did not heal well enough for him to be able to fly. His name comes from a Native American word meaning Òwalks without soundÓ referring to owlsÕ ability to fly silently. Kajika is a member of Carolina Raptor CenterÕs education team, and travels all across the Carolinas teaching thousands of children about the importance of owls and other raptors to the environment.
